Dzinebox.com is an online community that connects home owners and property with architects, landscape architects and interior designers. Home owners post projects on dzinebox.com, including a description, images and photos. Professional designers search projects based on their specialization, review the projects and then post proposals that the home owner can review. Proposals are design ideas, concepts and sketches that the designer uploads to dzinebox.com using their favorite editing tools (e.g. Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, graphical images, photos, etc). The home owner reviews the proposals and selects the designer they are interested in working with. Since dzinebox.com is a social network, home owners can communicate with the designers through a private messaging system built right into the site.

Dzinebox.com was founded by Cam Collins and Mike Flaugh because they saw how inefficient the process of finding, getting comfortable with and selecting a professional designer can be. Furthermore, professional designers tend to be reserved for home and property owners on the higher end of the financial spectrum. Cam and Mike believe that good design should be accessible to everyone. Dzinebox.com helps to lower the barriers to entry for people that appreciate good design. As a registered and practicing Landscape Architect, Mike has experienced these inefficiencies personally for years. What if designers had ready access to home owners with actual projects, and could review those projects online, where ever they are 24/7? This is precisely the niche dzinebox.com fills.

Dzinebox.com was built from the ground-up on a social media framework called Pinax. Pinax is built on the popular Django framework used by ten of thousands of social-based websites around the world. With over twenty-five years of software and more recently web development experience, Cam felt strongly that dzinebox.com needed to be a community site, whereby designers and home/property owners could share both projects and ideas. The founders plan to extend the dzinebox.com theme to incorporate more services and features catering to home and property owners.
